Advantages and Disadvantages Illinois and T test Agility :

  • Cheap
  • Available
  • Short time duration
  • Not a lot of space needed
  • Don't need a lot of space or knowledge to know how to set up and complete
  • Human error when timing, delaying/too quick on the timer
  • Could slip on small cones but big cones could get in the way, also might not go all the way round cones
  • Environment and weather - rain could make the floor wet and slippery
  • Correct clothing and footwear needed, studs on grass, trainers in a hall
  • In the T Test, athlete is required to go back on themselves so only one athlete can go at a time so that people don't get into each others ways


Advantages and Disadvantages of Standing Stalk Balance test:
  • No equipment needed
  • Cheap and easy
  • Need another person top judge when you first start to wobble or fall
  • Human error
  • Such a simple test that it may become boring and therefore they may be a variety of results

Advantages and Disadvantages of the 30m Sprint test:
  • Cheap
  • Quick and easy
  • Short time taking test (4-7 seconds)
  • Small space needed
  • Human error at stopping and starting possible
  • Athlete could start too early
  • Weather and environment - rain could make the surface slippery and the direction of heavy wing could affect speed
  • Athlete would need rest in-between sprints as the results would become inaccurate if the athlete becomes tired 
Advantages and Disadvantages of Ruler Drop, Reactions test:
  • Not much money to buy a large ruler
  • Quick, easy and simple
  • Short time needed
  • Small space needed
  • Availability of finding a large ruler could be difficult
  • Need 2 people
  • Person dropping ruler would have to drop the ruler from the same distance each time and this is likely to be inaccurate due to human error
  • Reliability
  • What part of the hand to measure the drop from
Advantages and Disadvantages of Power tests standing broad jump, standing long jump and Sergeant test jump:
  • Short time span to carry out test
  • Small amount of the space needed
  • Could be difficult to set up and stick large ruler on the wall
  • Need open facility to do so
  • Technique for each jump may very and therefore results will range
  • How they fall after jumping should be the same and pre determined
Advantages and Disadvantages of Cooper, Bleep and Harvard step test testing Cardiovascular Endurance:
  • Easy to set up
  • Easy to judge when someone has finished completing the test
  • Cooper test can be cheap and available on a phone
  • Speaker system for cooper test can be expensive
  • Can be quite a long and time consuming test
  • Need additional people to judge how well people have done once they have stopped
  • Rules about how body positioning during test should be pre determined
  • Bench could move during Harvard Step test
  • How high they should be jumping/stepping in the Harvard test should be pre determined
  • A metronome needed for the Harvard step test could be quite expensive
